Head Chef at The Pheasant is 31 year old Peter Neville, who was ‘head-hunted’ by his previous employers, Andrew and Jacquie Pern of The Star
Inn at Harome to become the third Director of this beautifully situated Country Hotel in April 2009. Peter, a largely self-taught Chef, claims he essentially cooks what he likes to eat himself - and it is fast becoming clear that a lot of other people like to eat
it too. The restaurant has been quietly building up
its reputation by word of mouth, but being voted Yorkshire Life ‘Restaurant of the Year 2011’ means
it cannot remain a culinary ‘best kept secret’
for very much longer!

Peter’s menus have evolved over the past couple of years to reflect his interests in foraged, wild foods and dishes with fresh, clean, deceptively simple flavours and presentation. Whilst he has drawn upon his past experience at both The Star working with Andrew Pern and at Claude Bosi’s Hibiscus in London, it is evident that his style is all Peter’s own.
